Cheap Eats: Lunch @ Banh Mi & Bros
Bahn Mi & Bros bill themselves as the Vietnamese sandwiches specialist in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. With two stores, one in BKK1 and the other in Russian Market.
The overflowing hipster cafes, cocktail creationists and munchie maestros might be driving prices up in Phnom Penh, yet you don’t need to settle for $12 sandwiches or $9 cocktails.
Whilst the general rule, is that if you go local and the prices are in riel you’ll often get much better value – we do keep our eyes peeled for some bargains around the city.
Banh Mi & Bros
Bahn Mi & Bros bill themselves as the Vietnamese sandwiches specialist in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. With two stores, one in BKK1 and the other in Russian Market.
Each weekday, they offer a $2.50 lunch special which includes a lemon ice tea, a dessert flan (choice of Pandan flan or Caramel creme tart) and their Sandwich of the day).
We checked it out today, which is Chicken Satay day.
Appealing on the eye, the sandwich was prepared fairly quickly and with attention to detail. The flavour combinations were excellent and the addition of the side salad left us wondering if we really were getting the awesome lunch deal or if we’d accidentally ordered something fancier.
Even their lemon iced tea is a real treat, not too sweet and not too sharp.
A Sandwich a day, keeps the hunger at bay
Here’s the daily round up of their current meal sets, these run weekdays from Midday until 2pm each day:
Monday – Chicken Satay
Tuesday – Meatball
Wednesday – Spicy Thai
Thursday – Caramelised pork
Friday – Exotic Veggie (Yep, Veggie friendly!)
