Get Ready for Round 2 of the National Karting Championship
Head out to the Cambodia Karting Track off National Highway 4 to get your next racing rush this Sunday.
Last week’s opening of the National Karting Championship got off to a roaring start – and the competition heats up again this Sunday.
Round One Results
Mark Huang Byron, from the Philippines, took the lead in the Series A race with 34 points, followed by Hong Kong’s Ivan Chan and Singaporean Barry Yip (who runs the Cambodia Karting Track) jointly at 31 points, and Faith Liao, from Taiwan, at 27. Representing Cambodia, Pily Wong came in 5th with 25 points.
Cambodians fared better in Series B, with Sophearak Chhun and Yun Buntong taking first and third place respectively.
Local favourite Lay Sreyrath got off to a very strong start, giving a great performance in heat 1 – and coming first. Sadly, though, she hit setbacks when her kart suffered technical problems in the second heat, and was unable to rejoin the race due to heavy rain. Towards the end of the day she made a heroic effort to get things back on track, scoring third place and pulling her overall position up to fourth on the table. We can’t wait to see her race again this weekend!
