When it comes to picking a hotel in Phnom Penh, many will have a quality swimming pool high on their priorities as an ideal retreat from the heat. At Blue Lime, not only do they over a central oasis near the palace with a long pool covered by tropical foliage, but you have the option of a room with a private pool!
To mark a special occasion, I decided to book a room and have an indulgent stay-cation.
Firstly, the location is ideal for tourists as it’s extremely central to many of the attractions of the city. The boutique hotel is down an unassuming ally near the Royal Palace, near many nice restaurants and bars.
As a Maads hotel, the attentive staff greet you with a welcome drink and sweet treat whilst they organise your check in. Walking past the bar/restaurant area, past the long pool surrounded by comfortable loungers, you’re led to a row of apartments at the back of the hotel. The room I booked was light and modern, sporting a tropical motif of palm patterns and colouring.
The large four poster bed looks towards the window, whereby the view is a walled off private pool, shaded partly by a wooden slat roof – but the pool does get speckled by sunlight, should you be after some vitamin D.
I was there to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday, and the hotel surprised us with some complimentary cocktails. Their menu included many traditional favourites but also an exciting fusion of local spirits and boozy creations from their bar team.
