Raise the Roof (and a Ton of Cash) at the Rotary Club’s Charity Bash
Get out your wallets in aid of some amazing projects this Friday.
This Friday, the Phnom Penh Rotary Club hosts a humungous charity auction in support of its projects around the country.
Held at Chinese House on Riverside, the event is a boisterous affair, with canapés, free-flow wine and beer, and live entertainment to set the scene.
Guests will have the chance to bid for a range of delightful items and experiences, ranging from original artwork and handmade jewellery, through to tours, hotel and restaurant packages. You could even snag the chance to have your name featured as a character in a book!
Where Does the Money Go?
The Rotary Club is an entirely volunteer-run organisation, with no overheads or salaries to pay – and that means 100% of money raised on the night will be used to fund their humanitarian work in health, education and community development, all over Cambodia.
This includes providing emergency relief for families hit by fires and natural disasters, dispensing sanitary kits to women and wheelchairs to disabled kids, improving access to literature for schoolchildren, and providing vital, life-changing operations to some of the poorest people in the country.
The Rotary Club’s meningoencephalocoele (MEC) project, for example, has already brought treatment for the life-threatening brain swelling condition to 100 patients, most of whom are children – but there are over 1,000 patients still waiting for help.
The group has also distributed thousands of mosquito nets to rural families, as well as 444 books to class libraries to date.
So: dig deep, bid high, and help further the great work of this organisation over the coming year!
The Rotary Club Charity Auction, 6pm-10pm, Friday 19th January @ Chinese House, Sisowath Quay; Tickets $30 advance / $35 on the door.
