If you happen to be around the Northwest this week, then we recommend the Phare Ponleu Selpak (The Brightness of The Arts) celebration in Battambang.
PPS is a non profit arts and educational foundation that has been helping improve the life of young Cambodians and their families through arts schools, educational programmes and social support since 1994.
25 years ago PPS opened the first community art school in Battambang and began the uphill battle to reinvigorate Khmer arts culture after decades of it being lost to conflict.
Today, PPS is helping over 1000 students through its arts and education programmes each year, leading many graduates into the creative arts industries.
The anniversary will be celebrated through the S’Art Urban Art Festival. This week, Battambang will have something for everyone who loves the arts. The city will be host to workshops, exhibition openings, hip-hop and break dance at the campus, mural paintings, a food and arts fair and of course a giant puppet parade.
