Start off your weekend with a reminder of some of the unmistakable uniqueness of Khmer culture. The Perfect Motion is a Khmer documentary looking at the history of Cambodian classical dance, how it’s been kept alive and the way it is still inspiring a generation of French artists.

No better time than early Friday night for some chilled acoustic vibes from the Penh Pal trio of Ariane Parkes on vocals, Mike McCann with the guitar and Liam Garth Jones also on guitar and with a bit of harmonica thrown in.

Full Moon Party, 9pm, Backstreet Bar, St. 308

DJ Ral Pagalday brings a full sesh of dancing the night away to disco, RnB, House and hip hop for a big late one. 

 

Vanderbeak, 9pm, Le Manolis, St. 13

UK born and Ho Chi Minh based international DJ Vanderbeak will get the dancefloor jumping from 9pm tonight.

Like cocaine? Like bears? Well, do we have the afternoon for you. Legend is still showing the very loosely ‘based on a true story’ and very ridiculous Cocaine Bear at 13:55.

 

What’s On Stage 

Live Jazz, 5pm, Le Point Cafe & Bistro, St. 208

Three visiting musicians from Japan will bring a mix of Latin, Bossa Nova and Jazz to your Saturday evening. We have Takahito Sakaki on drums, Atsushi Abe on the piano and Kaori Todoroki on vocals. Tickets are $20 for an adult and $10 for children. 

 

Comedic Stylings XLVI, 7:30pm, SpeakEasy Theatre, St. 244

The 46th edition of Comedic Stylings brings a free night of the best stanup in town. Although there is no cost, there are limited seats so please reserve on livecomedyincambodia@gmail.com

Cambodia’s newest horror throws in a mix of Hollywood production values, creepy Khmer horror vibes and nods to ancient Cambodian culture.

Sunday Sessions, 12pm, The Vine, St. 244

The Vine hosts the perfect day sesh for all live music lovers in the Penh. Tunes will be provided from Cardboard Lo Fi, Greg Beshers and Scott Bywater (Scoddy). 

 

Skin and String Sunday Living Room Session, 7:30pm, Backstreet, St. 308

Some original acoustic tunes to draw your weekend to a close with a laid back and inviting atmosphere.
