Safe Cities for Women Day

Calling everyone who wants to see Phnom Penh become a safer place for women… (so hopefully, you know, everyone): get down to Norodom Boulevard this Sunday to show your solidarity with the sisters.

Hosted by Action Aid’s Safe Cities for Women initiative, this one day community event aims to help raise awareness about sexual violence in Cambodia and lessen the stigma attached to victims of sexual harassment and abuse.

While it’s for a very serious cause, the event itself is pretty lighthearted: there will be live music, Madizon dancing, face painting and giant banner making.
No one should feel unsafe simply walking through the streets they live in, and encouraging women and girls to speak up about their experiences, understand they are not to blame and confront the issue head-on is the first step towards ending violence against women for good.

Safe Cities for Women, 1.30-5pm, Sunday 30th July @ Preschool Teacher Training Centre, Norodom Boulevard
