Phnom Penh’s newest act will be launching its funky origins at Hometown Hangout this evening. The 6 piece band’s style is described by bassist, and all round sweaty Canadian running around the stage, Chris Rompre as an ‘art-rock paradise’ that sits somewhere between David Bowie and Radiohead.
And how could we almost forget that, in fact, two new bands will be debuting this evening at Hometown Hangout. You can also enjoy the 5 piece band of L’amant dans le Placard with two guitars, one bass, one drug and one delighful singer.

Come check out the launch of Cambodia’s newest magazine and hear all about the making of a magazine and Cambodian film culture. This is then followed by the showing of two un-releashed films by David Chou and Kavich Neang and then a short documentary on ‘bek sloy’ culture in the Philippines created by Jay Rosas ansd Mark Limbaga. Plus, the first 50 people to arrive get free drinks!
18:00-21:00. Interclub Fight Night, Cambodian Top Team, St. 468
It’s a big night of pleasant violence and camaraderie down at Cambodian Top Team. For no financial benefit and very little glory, a bunch of folk decide to beat the living shit out of each other. So, let’s all accept that this is pretty awesome and that many of us want to watch it. You can even make a fun drinking game out of listening to the chatter in the audience after the second round of drinks and take a shot every time you hear someone say ‘yeah, I do actually. I really do reckon I could give it a go.’

At 76kg in kun khmer we have Kheang Leng, representing himself up against Liam Hood with Rafikis. At 70kg in boxing, Theo Franiatte takes on Haram Chea from Kingdom. After half time Nathan Joyce with Monster Factory, at 60kg goes up against Sithyvong Say from Cambodian Top Team in kun Khmer. In our only ladies, and only pro fight of the night we see Phanith Vann Lida at 45kg, representing Soavanhkoma Kun Khmer against Luy Pissey from 8k Kun Khmer. Finally, the independent Andy Cox, at 86kg boxes Yasser Kalombo from Villa Martial Arts. The only unknown at this stage who boxes the 71kg Randy Yudhistra from Spartan Boxing who has been left currently without a confirmed opponent after a series of unfortunate injuries.
