This week we have banging DESI nights, fermented cabbage with the coolest underground Berlin DJs, classic retro Khmer tunes and a Japanese film festival….

Friday 

What’s On Screen 

Japanese Film Festival,18:00-19:11, Institut français du Cambodge, Keo Chea

Tonight the Japanese film festival will be screening the most Japanese sounding film ever made…. Sword Cut begins at 18:00. 

 

What’s On The Menu

Totally Fermented: ‘Sauerkraut Lab” DJ Launch @ Berlin Bar, 20:00, Meta House, St. 228

The Germans sure do love fermenting their cabbage and if the baking heat is making you crave the anti -inflammatory benefits of sauerkraut with, of course, a banging DJ night then, boy oh boy, do Meta have the evening for you. DJs Tommy Schultz, Nick Stick, and Sammy will bring the underground Berlin vibe while you eat some cabbage and sausage. 

 

What’s On Stage

Retro Night- Miss Sarawan, 19:30, Lantern Rooftop Bar, St. 282

The queen of classic Khmer music in the modern day will host a beautiful night up on the roof. Miss Sarawan brings some old school Cambodian flair to Lantern rooftop this evening from 19:30. 

 

Geography of The Moon,  20:00. The Tin Hat, St. 123

Phnom Penh music staple is hitting its return with two weeks in a row. Friday night sees them take stage at Tin Hat from 20:00 for an evening of excellent live music.m

 

Brazilian Party, 21:00, Can Can, St. 308

We Can Can indeed get our sexy dancing on this weekend. A fun filled evening of samba wth full Carnaval vibes will be brought to you by Instructors Angel Bella and DJ Naf. 

 

Saturday

What’s On Screen 

Japanese Film Festival,Two screening times, Institut français du Cambodge, Keo Chea

Today the Japanese film festival will be showing two unique movies for us in Japanese with English subtitles. Branded to kill begins at 14:00 and The Burmese Harp kicks off at 16:00. 

 

What’s On The Menu

Fondue Night *2, 19:00. Le Langka, St. 51

What better way tO spend a Saturday evening than eating lovely melted cheese with friends? Well luckily you can do just that this weekend. $30 per person, with a minimum of 3 people per fondue, comes with delightful cheese and a glass of wine perfectly paired from Warehouse.

This exhibition is on daily and looks at the role of technology in all of our lives. 

 

What’s On Stage

This will be the event of the night with the absolute most fun and most catchy tunes taking you into the wee hours of the morning. 

 

Sunday 

What’s On Show

Art Weekend, 15:00, Botanico, St. 29

Ever been interested in learning more about paining with acrylics? Well today is your chance and an opportunity to experiment with new techniques and creating still lifes, landscapes, animals and modern art. 

Sunday Come Down- Comedy Open Mic, 19:00, Noisy Chilli Tap House, St. 350

This may be aptly named and you have not yet went to bed or you have been up since 6am for a spin class and leisurely lunch. Either way, we can all use a laugh. It’s a chance for some great comedy and also…probably some terrible material too. This is an opportunity for new comics to give it a go and seasoned funny people can try out some new material. It is always a very fun evening with a great atmosphere and if you get up on stage then you will be rewarded with a free craft beer!
