National Go-Karting Championship Revs Up this Sunday

Drivers from all over the world gather in Phnom Penh on 6th August for the first race of the National Go-Karting Championship.

Drivers from all over the world gather in Phnom Penh this Sunday 6th August for the first race of the National Go-Karting Championship.

The Cambodia Karting Circuit will host the event for the third year running – and this year looks set to be bigger, better and more thrilling than ever, with participants from Hong Kong, China, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as plenty of home-grown Cambodian talent.

Who to Watch Out For

The Cambodian superstar to look out for this Sunday is Lay Sreyrath, a local hero(ine) who is one of the fastest drivers in Cambodia today. Make sure you give her a big cheer from the sidelines!

How Do I Watch the Race?

It’s totally free and no tickets are required to enter the venue – you can watch the race from right beside the track. Just get over to the Cambodian Karting Circuit by 9am on Sunday to claim your spot in the first race of the tournament.

Is It Official?

Sure is! The yearly national championship is sanctioned by the Cambodian motor sports federation and sponsored by Puma Singapore, Mountain Dew, iBurger, NGK Spark Plug, DID Racing Cahin, Sting and Elyfante.

Whats more, it’s by far the safest way to race and watch motor sports in the Kingdom. As racetrack owner Barry Yip explains, it’s the only racing event that’s required to run on a track rather than on roads, meaning drivers can really pick up the speed without getting thrown by a pot hole.
